City Businessman Jailed for Beating Up Slay Queen at Mezo Toilets

A night out at Mezo Bar in Kololo took an ugly twist after a city businessman allegedly assaulted socialite Kisha Shamilah Kavuma in the bar’s washroom.

Paul Ssenyondo, a 34-year-old car bond dealer from Kyanja, was remanded to Luzira Prison after being charged with assault at Buganda Road Court.

He appeared before Chief Magistrate Ronald Kayizzi and denied the charges, but his request for bail was put on hold pending further verification of his documents.

Prosecution, led by Allan Mucunguzi, told the court that the altercation started when Kavuma confronted another patron, Jovia Nansamba Bukanya, for allegedly recording her in the washroom. Nansamba reportedly claimed she was only admiring Kavuma’s jeans and deleted the video when asked. However, tensions flared when Nansamba returned with Ssenyondo, who then allegedly attacked Kavuma.

The socialite reported the incident to police, leading to Ssenyondo’s arrest. In his bail application, he cited his stable residence and responsibilities as a father, but the prosecution argued that his documents needed verification. The magistrate ruled in favor of the prosecution and remanded him until February 14.

With his fate now in the hands of the court, it remains to be seen whether Ssenyondo will regain his freedom or face more time behind bars.
