Fort Portal City — Fort Portal City turned into a sea of white over the weekend as followers of the Faith of Unity gathered for a three-day religious convention led by the movement’s founder, Omukama Ruhanga Owobusobozi Bisaka.
Organised by the Faith of Unity believers under the Kabalore–Bukwenda Diocese, the event attracted more than 200 new converts alongside thousands of believers and non-believers who converged at Bihimba Stadium for prayers, worship and thanksgiving.
Organisers said many residents had previously followed the faith’s activities through media platforms and welcomed the opportunity to witness Bisaka’s teachings firsthand.
Proceedings were preceded by a long procession through Fort Portal City, stretching several kilometres, as believers dressed in white marched towards the stadium. The large turnout caused delays in accessing the venue, with organisers citing overwhelming numbers of people seeking spiritual guidance and healing.

During the convention, several testimonies were presented by followers who said they had experienced instant healing. Among them was Akapulira Doreen, who told congregants that she had lived with epilepsy for several years but had been healed during the prayers. The claims could not be independently verified.
In his address, Bisaka urged Ugandans to embrace hard work, unity and discipline, while also supporting government programmes aimed at national development. He also called on followers to actively participate in the country’s political processes.
“He emphasised peace, stability and collective responsibility in building the nation,” one of the organisers said.

Several political leaders, including Members of Parliament and local government officials, attended the gathering, describing the Faith of Unity as a movement that promotes moral values and social cohesion.
Bisaka also used the platform to encourage believers to support National Resistance Movement (NRM) chairperson and presidential candidate, Gen Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, whom he described as a key contributor to Uganda’s political stability. The remarks were met with applause from sections of the crowd.

During the event, Bisaka inaugurated more than 160 new staff members, known as Bahereza, drawn from different parts of Fort Portal City, to support the faith’s activities.
Following the Fort Portal convention, Bisaka and his followers are expected to proceed to Hoima City as part of an ongoing mission focusing on religious teaching and mobilisation.
The Faith of Unity, founded by Bisaka in western Uganda, has over the years attracted a significant following, with large conventions often drawing national attention due to their religious and socio-political messaging.
