The Electoral Commission of Uganda (@UgandaEC) held a key meeting today with agents representing all eight presidential candidates and the leadership of the Uganda Police Force (@PoliceUg).
The main goal of the meeting was to review how the first week of the national election campaigns had gone and to find ways to make the next weeks smoother, safer, and more peaceful. During the meeting, participants shared their experiences, raised concerns, and discussed emerging issues that have come up since campaigns began.
The Commission encouraged everyone to follow the harmonized campaign program, observe the set guidelines, and respect the country’s electoral laws.
Officials emphasized that cooperation and respect for rules will help ensure that all candidates have equal opportunities to reach their supporters.
The Electoral Commission also urged all political parties and their agents to avoid conflict and instead choose dialogue as the best way to solve any disagreements.
Police representatives promised to continue working with all parties to maintain order and protect both candidates and the public throughout the campaign period. At the end of the meeting, all sides agreed to work together in the spirit of peace, fairness, and respect.
They committed to addressing any challenges through discussion rather than confrontation. This renewed spirit of unity and communication gives hope that Uganda’s ongoing campaigns will remain peaceful and democratic as the nation moves closer to election day.
