Electoral Commission Announces New Nomination Dates for Affected Areas

The Electoral Commission has announced fresh nomination dates for electoral areas where a previously nominated candidate has unfortunately passed away.

The new nominations will take place on Monday, 27th October, and Tuesday, 28th October 2025. This follows Section 26 of the Parliamentary Elections Act, Cap 177, which allows the Commission to organize nominations under such circumstances.

It is important to note that candidates who were already duly nominated for the affected elective positions at Local Government Councils do not need to undergo the nomination process again. This ensures that the process remains fair while also respecting those who have already completed their nominations.

Aspiring candidates who wish to participate in the fresh nominations are advised to obtain the necessary forms and guidelines from their District Electoral Commission offices. For convenience, the Electoral Commission has also made soft copies of the forms and guidelines available on its official website: ec.or.ug.

The Commission urges all potential candidates to adhere to the set dates and follow the official procedures to ensure a smooth and transparent electoral process. These fresh nominations are part of ongoing preparations leading up to the 2026 elections, reinforcing the Commission’s commitment to free, fair, and well-organized elections.
