Stanbic Bank Enhances Kampala Restaurant Week with Seamless FlexiPay Experience

Stanbic Bank Uganda has partnered with Kampala Restaurant Week 2025 as the official payment partner, introducing its award-winning FlexiPay platform to one of the capital’s most celebrated culinary festivals.

The three-week food extravaganza, which draws food lovers to some of the city’s top restaurants, now comes with a seamless digital payments experience thanks to Stanbic’s FlexiPay solution.

The collaboration not only enhances customer convenience but also demonstrates the bank’s commitment to driving digital adoption and supporting Uganda’s vibrant hospitality industry.

Speaking during the festival launch held at Aldea Restaurant in Kololo, Mr. Salim Kitagenda, Head of Products at Stanbic Bank Uganda, emphasized the cultural and economic role food plays in everyday life.

“Food is foundational to happiness, unity, and economic growth. When you want to describe a country or a culture, you describe its people and its food,” Kitagenda said.

He noted that Stanbic Bank’s participation in the festival reflects its broader vision of enabling shared experiences through digital financial tools that are secure, accessible, and relevant.

The bank is offering a 10% instant cashback to all FlexiPay users who dine at participating restaurants during the festival.

FlexiPay, Stanbic’s flagship digital wallet, allows customers to make secure payments by dialing *291# or using the app, eliminating the need for cash.

“There’s nothing easier than simply swiping your card or tapping to pay. And for this event, we’re rewarding diners every time they use FlexiPay with a cashback,” Kitagenda explained.

The platform also comes with an integrated lending feature, enabling users to top-up and dine even when low on funds, removing affordability as a barrier to participation.

Kitagenda further highlighted the benefits of Stanbic’s credit card services, which offer clients up to 55 days of interest-free usage, calling it “the best financial tool to support lifestyle needs without immediate pressure.”

In addition to digital convenience, FlexiPay offers real-time transaction monitoring, merchant integrations, and round-the-clock customer support, making it one of the most comprehensive cashless platforms on the Ugandan market.

The partnership reflects Stanbic’s broader strategy to promote financial inclusion, especially within the informal and service economies. It aligns with the bank’s commitment to supporting local enterprises and celebrating culture in ways that improve lives.

“Stanbic is not just a bank, it’s a community partner. We’re proud to support Uganda’s hospitality industry and encourage a culture of dining, joy, and togetherness,” Kitagenda added.

Since its launch in 2022, FlexiPay has grown to over 1.5 million active users, facilitating everything from bill payments to remittances, event ticketing, and business transactions. In 2024 alone, the platform processed over UGX 30 billion in international remittances from over 25 countries.

As Kampala Restaurant Week continues to delight food lovers across the city, Stanbic Bank’s presence ensures that the festival is not only about flavors, but also about financial transformation, one swipe at a time.
