Dr Aminah Zawedde, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of ICT and National Guidance, has clarified the recent procurement expenditure on vehicles, affirming that the process was transparent and adhered to all regulatory guidelines.

The Ministry’s official statement emphasized that two vehicles were procured, not just one as previously reported, ensuring proper use of the Ugx900 million budget.

“All necessary approvals and processes were meticulously followed,” the statement read.

Contrary to allegations of purchasing a single government vehicle for Ugx965 million, the Ministry revealed that the procurement involved two cars, acquired through an open bidding process compliant with the Public Procurement and Disposal of Public Assets Authority (PPDA) guidelines and endorsed by the Solicitor General’s office.

The Ministry addressed the ongoing scrutiny from the Auditor General regarding the payment authorized by Dr Zawedde to Cadam Enterprises on August 31, 2022, for a Toyota Land Cruiser LC 300 VX.

They clarified that two vehicles, not one, were bought, with registration numbers UG 0057N and UG 0058N, and are available for inspection.

The Ministry reiterated its commitment to transparency and accountability in all its operations, encouraging public verification of the vehicles in question.
