Masajja, Makindye Ssabagabo, Uganda– A 50-year-old witch doctor, John Magombe, has been sentenced to seven years in prison after authorities discovered three human skulls and blood in his shrine.

The sentence was handed down by High Court Judge Margaret Mutonyi, who underscored the case’s significance as a public warning.

Justice Mutonyi emphasized the necessity for the public to report traditional healers exploiting human body parts to manipulate and intimidate clients.

These practices frequently involve human sacrifice or grave desecration to obtain the required body parts.

Magombe’s guilty plea was a critical factor in his sentencing. By admitting his guilt and revealing that he purchased the skulls from other witch doctors, he avoided the maximum penalty of life imprisonment.

This confession allowed the police to expedite their investigation without needing to trace the skulls’ exact origins.

Magombe was sentenced to seven years in prison, with the time he has already spent in remand considered. As a result, his remaining term is five years, eight months, and four days.

According to court documents, Magombe committed the offence at his shrine located in Kazinga Masajja, Kibira B village, Masajja Parish, Makindye Ssabagabo in Wakiso District.
