The Uganda Police Force is currently undertaking a significant construction endeavour by establishing a new headquarters in Naguru. This ambitious project is projected to cost approximately 77 billion Ugandan shillings.

The official inauguration of this ambitious project was led by the Inspector General of Police, John Martins Okoth Ochola, as a pivotal component of the Justice Law and Order Services (JLOS) House project in the Naguru suburbs of Kampala.

The forthcoming state-of-the-art building, boasting cutting-edge law enforcement infrastructure, is projected to consume 77.5 billion shillings and will encompass 1,324 square meters of land. The project’s completion is slated for 2025, and it promises to redefine the landscape of law enforcement in the region.

One of the driving factors behind this undertaking is the pressing need to address the challenge of various directorates and units operating outside the current police headquarters due to limited space. The forthcoming building is anticipated to offer a substantial floor area, spreading across 14,934 square meters distributed over 12 floors. It will house a stand-alone conference center, parade yards, a helipad, and generous parking facilities.

This development is part of a more extensive JLOS House project, designed to provide purpose-built facilities for various institutions across the country, with the primary aim of enhancing service delivery. It also seeks to alleviate the substantial rental costs incurred by JLOS institutions within Kampala. Currently, these institutions spend significant sums on renting facilities.

It is noteworthy that JLOS has made substantial strides in extending its coverage to 75% of the districts, focusing on constructing justice centers for frontline institutions, which include courts, police, prosecution, and prisons. The new police headquarters holds the promise of centralizing various directors under one roof, fostering improved coordination and operational efficiency within the police force.

As Uganda invests in this remarkable infrastructure, it underscores the commitment to modernizing and optimizing the delivery of essential law enforcement services. This project is not just about constructing a building; it is a symbol of a nation’s commitment to safeguarding its citizens and ensuring the rule of law prevails. The new headquarters is set to be a beacon of progress, poised to uphold the highest standards of justice and order in the region.
