Gen. Museveni Finally Approves Retirement Of Gen. Kayihura, Other UPDF Senior Officers

‪President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni who is the Commander in Chief of the Uganda People’s Defense Forces UPDF, has approved the retirement of 110 General Officers and Senior Officers from the UPDF.‬

11 of the 110 retirees are Generals while the 99 are senior officers from the rank of major to colonel.

‪According to the UPDF spokesperson, Brig Gen. Felix Kulayigye, the first batch of retirees will be scheduled for 31st August, 2023 in a batch 13A including the former IGP, Gen Kale Kayihura. The second batch 13B will accommodate others not catered for in the first batch.‬

“We appreciate the services of these officers to their country while in active service and wish them good luck in their retirement,” Brig Gen. Kulayigye said.

Among big names approved for retirement are; former IGP Gen. Kale Kayihura, Lt. Gen. James Nakibus Lakara, Maj. Gen. Samuel Wasswa Mutesasira, Maj. Gen. Joseph Arocha, Maj. Gen. David. K. Wakaalo, Brig. Gen. Austine Kasatwooki Kamanyire, Brig. Gen. Stephen Oluka, Brig. Gen. Frank Katende Kyambadde, Brig. Gen. Emmanuel Kwihangana, Brig. Gen. Wilson Muhabuzi, and Brig. Gen. Ham Atwoki Kaija.
