Panic In Karamoja As Two UPDF Officers, LC3 Chairman Are Gruesomely Gunned Down

Uganda Police Force (UPF), Uganda Proples’ Defence Forces (UPDF) and other sister security agencies are investigating circumstances under which a Karimojong cattle rustler last night gunned down two UPDF soldiers including one detach commander and LC3 chairperson of Longaroe sub county in Kotido district.

We’ve learnt that the incident took place at around 9pm when rustlers showered the three people with bullets at Lopuyo trading centre as they had gone for socializing with others.

By presstime, names of the two soldiers had not been revealed but the LC3 chairperson was called Moses Lomuria popularly known as Apalobara.

Maj Moses Amuya the acting UPDF 3rd division spokesperson confirmed the incident describing it as unfortunate.

Amuya further confirmed that after the gruesome incident,  the rustler immediately took off with the gun adding that the joint security forces is on the ground tracking him.

Major Amuya further adds that this will not deter the joint forces from pursuing peace in Karamoja.

“Whether the Karimojong wants it or no but they will have to surrender all the guns”-he reveled while speaking to thus publication

Mathew Lokut one of the residents in Kotido appealed to government to take  a special action against the Jie community of Kotido.

“Other districts have become peaceful in the entire Karamoja apart from Kotido and Kaabong which are still causing insecurity”-Lokut appealed

Meanwhile Major Gen. Don Nabasa the 3rd division commander and his deputy Brig Felix Busizoori have continued to carry out peace dialogue urging the Karimojong to hand over their guns and send children back to school as it’s the only means that will help to develop the region.
