The body of the fallen Permanent Secretary in the Office of the Prime Minister, Keith Muhakanizi, was returned to Uganda on Saturday morning.
The body arrived at Entebbe International Airport at around 3:00 a.m.
Muhakanizi, 64, succumbed to a cancer-related ailment on April 13, 2023, in a hospital in Milan, Italy, where he had gone to seek specialised treatment.
President Museveni is expected this Saturday morning to preside over a memorial service for Muhakanizi at Kololo ceremonial grounds.
President Museveni last week directed Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja to organise an official burial in recognition of Muhakanizi’s great contribution to the country.
“Muhakanizi was a celebrated economist and permanent secretary who made a significant contribution to the development of our country by championing robust public sector reforms and offering sound advice,” said Nabbanja.
After the state ceremony, Muhakanizi’s body will be taken to Kabula in Lyantonde district for a church service and burial on Sunday.
