Museveni Reaffirms Commitment to Improve Health, Education Services in Arua

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has reaffirmed government’s commitment to improving health and education infrastructure in Arua District and Arua City, while urging residents to embrace wealth creation as the foundation of household and national prosperity.

Addressing thousands of supporters at his campaign rally at Arua Golf Course grounds in Arua City on Monday evening, Museveni noted that the region has registered significant progress in education over the years, with a total of 120 government primary schools, 50 in Arua District and 70 in Arua City, alongside 16 government secondary schools across both administrative units.

“For someone who has been here for a long time, seeing this progress makes me very happy,” the President said. “On health, our plan in the next government is to upgrade Orivu Health Centre III to a Health Centre IV in Ayivu Division East, and to upgrade Lazebu Health Centre II to a Health Centre III in Arivu Sub-county,” he added.

Museveni said one of the greatest contributions of the NRM since 1986 has been the restoration of peace and stability across the country.

He explained that Uganda’s transformation was built on the rejection of sectarian politics based on tribe and religion — practices that had divided the nation in the early post-independence years. “The NRM opposed politics of sectarianism and marginalization. We built a national party that unites Ugandans regardless of tribe, religion, or gender. That is why we win on the first round.”

The President further emphasized the importance of household income generation, noting that poverty eradication remains central to the NRM government’s development agenda.

“If you have no income in your home, you create problems not only for your family but also for the country,” Museveni stated.

“The government receives taxes from what people buy. When you have no money, you are not contributing to your family or your nation. I therefore urge everyone to be active in wealth creation and to support NRM to continue the battle against poverty.”

On her part, First Lady Maama Janet Museveni thanked the people of Arua for their love and support, urging them to continue standing with the NRM and to safeguard the peace and unity the country now enjoys.

The Arua rally is part of Museveni’s ongoing nationwide campaign trail under the theme #ProtectingTheGains, aimed at consolidating the achievements made under NRM’s leadership and preparing Ugandans for continued socio-economic transformation.

The President will continue his campaign trail on Tuesday, with rallies in Maracha and Koboko Districts as part of his ongoing West Nile tour to mobilize votes for the NRM party to stay in power.
