Kamuli, Uganda — The Territorial Police in Busoga North and Kamuli Central Police Station (CPS) have arrested a local security guard, Kizito Imulani, 40, on charges of aggravated defilement and indecent assault.
Imulani is accused of sexually abusing an 8-year-old female orphan and indecently assaulting two other girls, aged 8 and 10, at Master Children Ministries and Orphanage in Kamuli Municipality.
According to police reports, the alleged incidents occurred in May 2024. Imulani, who was employed in 2023 to guard the premises and its occupants, reportedly betrayed his position of trust by inappropriately touching the girls and luring them into sexual acts. The victims courageously reported the abuse to the orphanage matron, who then informed the school management and the police.
Medical examinations confirmed evidence of sexual abuse in one of the victims. Police Spokesperson SCP Enanga Fred condemned the actions of the suspect, emphasizing the betrayal of trust by an individual who was supposed to protect the children.
“The suspect had held himself as a trusted protector of the orphans since 2023 but betrayed that trust by harming them sexually and physically,” Enanga said. “He is being charged with aggravated defilement, in addition to two other counts of indecent assault. The arrest should serve as a deterrent to other child predators who would take advantage of vulnerable children.”
Enanga highlighted the responsibility of adults to protect and care for children, not to prey on them. The police continue to investigate the case, ensuring that justice is served for the young victims.
This incident underscores the importance of vigilance and prompt reporting of abuse, particularly in environments housing vulnerable children. The community has been urged to remain alert and report any suspicious behaviour to prevent further harm to children.
