Kampala, Uganda — The National Unity Platform (NUP) inaugurated its new political institute on Monday, aiming to promote the party’s ideology among its members and the wider public.

The institute’s launch was marked by a ceremony attended by the party’s president, Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu and other prominent leaders from within and outside the party.

The institute features both informal and formal educational sectors, catering to diverse groups within the community.

The informal sector includes a digital class designed for boda boda riders, school dropouts, and individuals who have never attended formal education. This sector aims to provide basic political education and skills to marginalized groups.

In the formal sector, there are classes tailored for professionals and elites, focusing on in-depth discussions and advanced political training.

David Lewis Rubongoya, the Party’s Secretary General says NUP is building building for the present and future generations one step at a time.

“We’re very pleased today, to officially open the @NUP_Ug School of Leadership. As Che Guevara said, “The first duty of a revolutionary is to be educated,” he said

According to Alex Mufumbiro, the party’s deputy spokesperson, this sector will be led by Mr. Moses Kanaabi, the party’s organizing secretary.

“There is also a dedicated class for elected leaders under the NUP ticket,” Mufumbiro said. “These leaders will undergo extensive training to instill and reinforce the core values and ideology of the National Unity Platform.”

The institute is a strategic move to build a strong ideological foundation within the party. Mufumbiro emphasized that the initiative aims to ensure that all members, regardless of their educational background, are aligned with the NUP’s principles and goals.

“This initiative aims to create a well-informed and cohesive membership base, capable of advancing the party’s mission and contributing effectively to national development,” he added.

The launch began with a tour of the informal sector, showcasing the digital class setup for the boda boda riders and other groups. The institute is seen as a significant step in empowering the party’s members and enhancing their understanding of political processes and the NUP’s vision for Uganda.
