Amudat, Northern Uganda – In a tragic incident, a lightning strike killed two pupils and injured 12 others at Akorikeya Primary School in Abiliyep sub-county, Amudat district.

The pupils, aged between 13 and 15, were struck while playing in the school compound during a heavy downpour around 5:30 pm on Friday.

George Owanyi, the Amudat Resident District Commissioner (RDC), confirmed the incident and reported that the injured pupils are currently admitted and responding to treatment.

This devastating event follows another lightning strike nearly two months ago, which injured a nurse and a cleaner at Kaabong Hospital in Kaabong district.

Local authorities and community members are deeply concerned about the recent spate of lightning-related incidents and are urging for immediate measures to enhance safety and prevent further tragedies.
