The investigation into the murder of Ndiga clan leader Daniel Bbosa has uncovered startling revelations implicating his nemesis, Lujja Bbosa Tabula, in the heinous crime.

Police findings indicate that Tabula orchestrated the murder, allegedly driven by a bitter power struggle within the Ndiga clan.

The conflict traces back to 2021 when Tabula, claiming legitimacy, attempted to usurp leadership from Bbosa within the clan. Despite Tabula’s efforts, Bbosa steadfastly refused to relinquish power. The dispute escalated when Tabula, backed by Buganda Kingdom’s Tradition Court, attempted to assert his authority. However, Bbosa contested this decision, appealing directly to Kabaka Ronald Mwenda Mutebi II for resolution.

On February 25, near Bbosa’s residence in Kampala, Tabula, along with Buganda Kingdom’s Tradition Court clerk, Milly Naluwenda, allegedly conspired to hire hitmen to eliminate Bbosa. Tragically, Bbosa was fatally shot by assailants on motorcycles. While one assailant was lynched by locals, another, Noah Lujja, was apprehended and provided crucial information implicating Tabula and Naluwenda.

Following these revelations, police have launched a manhunt for Tabula, offering a substantial reward for information leading to his arrest. Meanwhile, six other suspects, including Naluwenda, have been detained in connection with the crime.

Bbosa’s funeral, held at the Ndiga clan ancestral site, saw his successor, Eria Luggya Lwasi Buzaabo, installed amidst an atmosphere of grief and uncertainty. The arrest of suspects, some with ties to Buganda kingdom institutions, has raised questions about the extent of influence and privilege associated with clan leadership.

Police spokesperson Fred Enanga assured the public of ongoing efforts to apprehend all those responsible for Bbosa’s murder. Additionally, he warned against harbouring the fugitive Tabula, emphasizing the seriousness of aiding a criminal.

As the investigation unfolds, it sheds light on the complexities of power dynamics within traditional structures and the lengths some individuals may go to assert dominance, ultimately resulting in tragedy and loss.
