President Mnangagwa’s Arrival Disrupted as Bomb Threat Forces Closure of Airport

The Victoria Falls International Airport has reportedly shut down following a bomb scare.

According to Zimlive, the Victoria Falls airport was temporarily shut down after authorities received a call claiming that there was a bomb on site.

This bomb scare incident reportedly happened just a few minutes before President Emmerson Mnangagwa was scheduled to land.

President Mnangagwa was scheduled to attend the closing ceremony for a renewable energy conference in Victoria Falls.  At the time of reporting, President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s Falcon 7X is said to have returned to Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport in Harare, where he safely landed.

Meanwhile, due to the bomb scare, aircraft are unable to land at Victoria Falls International. A Kenyan Airways flight from Nairobi was forced to hold for several minutes before diverting to Livingstone, Zambia.

On the other hand, an Air Zimbabwe plane is reportedly on the tarmac at Victoria Falls International Airport, and passengers cannot disembark as authorities investigate reports of a bomb.

A scheduled Ethiopian Airlines plane is one hour away from landing but will likely divert to Zambia as the emergency continues.
