Two individuals believed to be involved in motorcycle theft have met a tragic fate in Kagadi district. The identities of the deceased are still unknown, while others involved in the crime remain at large.

According to reports, the suspects targeted Kambugu village in Kicucura sub county of Kagadi district, where they stole a Bajaj motorcycle with the registration number UFN 290L. This unfortunate incident occurred on Friday night.

URN learnt that after the thugs raided and stole the motorcycle, they jumped on it and proceeded toward Hoima town.

However, area residents started pursuing the suspects whom they later arrested. Two of the suspects reported survived the mob action. Those who were arrested were beaten and their bodies were later burnt. Mob justice is illegal in Uganda.

Julius Hakiza, the Albertine region police spokesperson has confirmed the incident. He said police recovered the suspected stolen motorcycle that is currently being kept as an exhibit at the Kagadi Central police station.

He says, police later picked up the remains of the killed thieves that were later conveyed to the Kagadi General Hospital mortuary where they are currently lying pending postmortem and identification.

According to Hakiza, the hunt for all those who participated in the mob justice action is ongoing.

He condemned the action of the area residents saying mob justice is a crime.
