Commissioner Seku Launches Patriotism Programme Monitoring Across Busoga Schools

Jinja, Uganda — The Commissioner for the National Secretariat for Patriotism Corps (NSPC) at State House, Hellen Seku, has commenced a monitoring and evaluation exercise of patriotism training programmes across the Busoga Sub‑Region.

The exercise aims to assess the progress of the patriotism programme in schools and institutions, strengthen accountability, and enhance the effectiveness of the initiative among the youth.

Commissioner Seku will lead visits to schools across 10 districts in the sub-region. The monitoring teams are expected to review implementation progress, engage school leaders, and ensure that the objectives of the patriotism training programmes are being met.

Upon arrival in Busoga, Seku was officially welcomed by former Vice President Specioza Wandera Kazibwe during a strategy execution meeting held at the Jinja School of Nursing and Midwifery.

Speaking during the meeting, Commissioner Seku said the visit marks her first official monitoring exercise in Busoga since assuming office.

“We are in the Busoga Sub-region, and since I took office this is the first time we are conducting this monitoring exercise here,” Seku said.

She explained that the exercise is being carried out by five monitoring teams, each assigned to specific districts and institutions.

Her team will cover Jinja City, Jinja District, Iganga District, and Mayuge District, where they are expected to assess a total of 131 schools and institutions under the supervision of designated head team leaders.

Seku also emphasized that the monitoring teams will assess both public and private institutions in line with guidance from President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.

“The President has always guided that it is important to also check on private schools, not only focusing on government institutions,” she said.

The monitoring and evaluation exercise is part of ongoing efforts by the NSPC to strengthen patriotism education in Uganda’s learning institutions and to ensure that young people are equipped with values of national unity, discipline, and civic responsibility.
