‘I’m Here to Complete the Work We Began’ – Min. Kasolo Declares to Reclaim Kyotera’s Glory

The State Minister for Microfinance, Hon. Kyeyune Haruna Kasolo, on Thursday, October 23, 2025, held a mammoth nomination rally at Kasambya Grounds in Kyotera District, drawing tens of thousands of supporters from across the county as he launched his bid to reclaim the Kyotera County parliamentary seat from incumbent MP John Paul Lukwago Mpalanyi.

Hon. Kasolo, who previously represented Kyotera County for two consecutive terms (2011–2016 and 2016–2021), was successfully nominated on Wednesday, October 22, as the NRM flag bearer for the 2026 Parliamentary race. His homecoming rally painted Kyotera town yellow as supporters poured in from Kakuuto, Kyebe, Kasasa, Kibanda, Kifamba, Kasaali, Lwankoni, Kabira, and Kirumba sub-counties.

The Minister made a grand entry, leading a spirited procession through the streets of Kyotera, accompanied by musician Patrick Mulwana, popularly known as Alien Skin, whose performance electrified the jubilant crowds. The grounds erupted into chants and cheers as Hon. Kasolo waved to his supporters, pledging to restore Kyotera’s development momentum.

Kyotera District NRM Vice Chairperson, Mr. Enos Mugisha, who heads the Minister’s campaign team, expressed confidence in a decisive victory. “Kyotera has seen Kasolo’s work before, and the people are ready to return him to Parliament,” he said.

Addressing the crowd, Hon. Kasolo thanked his supporters for their resilience and faith in his leadership.

“You stood with me through the storm, and now we are back to reclaim what belongs to the people. Kyotera deserves progress, not politics of noise,” he said amid thunderous applause.

The Minister criticized the opposition for neglecting development priorities, citing stalled projects he initiated during his tenure — including rural electrification, water systems, skilling hubs, SACCOs, and coffee development programmes.

“When I left office, I had left poles, pipes, and programs ready. I’m back to complete that work — starting with giving coffee seedlings to every household,” he pledged.

Hon. Kasolo also raised concern over the increasing garbage accumulation in Kyotera Town, revealing that he had already procured an interim truck to support immediate waste collection as local councils work out a long-term solution.

He further condemned acts of hooliganism among youth, referencing a near-violent incident earlier in the day when rival supporters allegedly attempted to block his procession along the Kalisizo–Masaka Road.

“We must reject violence. Elections are not a do-or-die affair. Let’s compete in peace and respect each other regardless of political sides,” he cautioned.

The Minister took a moment to recognize his mother and wife, introducing them to the crowd as “the pillars” behind his political journey — a gesture that drew loud cheers from supporters.

Several residents described Hon. Kasolo as an action-oriented leader whose previous tenure brought visible transformation to the constituency.

“Kasolo may be tough, but he works for us. We saw roads, electricity, and SACCO support under him. We need that energy back,” said a resident from Kasaali.

The day concluded with entertainment from Alien Skin, Haruna Mubiru, and several local artists, leaving the crowd in a celebratory mood.

Campaigns for all parliamentary and local government candidates are expected to commence on November 10 and will run until 48 hours before the January 15, 2026, General Election.
