Kampala: The Prime Minister of Uganda Rt. Hon. Robinah Nabbanja has dismissed media allegations that she ordered for the arrest of Galaxy TV journalist David Mwesigye.
According to the communications officer office of the Prime Minister Francis Jjingo the circulation news are baseless and should not be considered serious by the public.
Jjingo says that Prime Minister has not ordered for the arrest of journalist Mwesigye but she instead directed the journalist to issue an apology for giving false information to the president and the entire Country.
“This is baseless information that I ordered for the arrest of the journalist. I only ordered him to go to police and make a statement about his false allegations. Journalists are good people because they educate, inform and entertain the public but some times they are used by politicians especially the oppositions to give false information” she added.
It should be remembered that journalist Musigye of Galaxy TV during the nominations of President Museveni at the Electoral commission headquarters in Lweza in Makindye Ssabagabo raised concerns about the state of Mukono referral hospital, Namuganga health centre III and Kayunga General Hospital.
Journalist Mwesigye also informed President Museveni about the lack of medical equipments and staff shortage at Mukono referral hospital.
Mwesigye added that patients are struggling in the hospital and pregnant mothers give birth on the floor and unfunctioning oxygen plant in Kayunga hospital. This forced the President to direct Prime Minister Nabbanja to go for a fact finding tour in the mentioned hospitals.
After visiting the hospitals Nabbanja said that “I agree with journalist Mwesigye about the situation in Mukono referral hospital but for Kayunga hospital, Mwesigye should apologize to the president for giving false information because the hospital is fully functioning,” Nabbanja said.
