CID Boss Magambo Warns Against Election-Related Crime, Urges Vigilance

The Director of the Criminal Investigations Directorate (CID), Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIGP) Tom Magambo, has called on all Ugandans to uphold peace, law, and order as the country enters a crucial electoral period.

In a message aimed at promoting harmony and responsible citizenship, AIGP Magambo urged the public to refrain from any form of criminal behavior or violence during the election season, regardless of political affiliations or beliefs.

He emphasized that elections should be a time for democratic participation rather than fear or conflict.

“Elections provide an opportunity for citizens to freely express their will, not to engage in acts that endanger the safety of others,” Magambo noted, stressing that criminal actions not only destabilize communities but also disrupt the democratic process.

The CID boss assured the public that the Uganda Police Force remains fully prepared to respond to any unlawful activities that may threaten the peace and security of the nation during this period.

He encouraged citizens to respect the law, report suspicious behavior, and work hand in hand with law enforcement to ensure a transparent and incident-free electoral process.

“As Ugandans, we must prioritize national unity and safety above political differences,” he said, adding that collective responsibility and vigilance are key to safeguarding the integrity of the elections.

AIGP Magambo’s appeal comes at a time when the country is gearing up for heightened political activity ahead of the forthcoming polls. His message serves as a reminder that maintaining peace and civility is a shared duty for all Ugandans.

He concluded by reaffirming that a peaceful election is a reflection of a mature democracy and urged every citizen to contribute to an environment marked by safety, respect, and harmony.
