Why Everyone Is Talking About Nakku Fiona — Uganda’s Next Female Youth MP

Kampala , Uganda — As Uganda moves closer to the 2026 general elections, a fresh wave of youth-centered leadership is gaining momentum. At the forefront of this movement is Nakku Fiona, a passionate and articulate advocate for young people, who is vying for the position of National Female Youth Member of Parliament.

With a firm belief that the time for youth to lead is now, Nakku has launched a spirited campaign under the bold and unifying slogan: “Together We Rise.”

Nakku’s message is resonating widely and her campaign emphasizes empowerment, education, skills development, and economic inclusion; pillars she believes are critical to shaping a resilient and self-reliant generation.

In her view, the youth are not just waiting in line to lead; they are already leading in their own spaces; in innovation, business, the arts, and community action. What they lack, she says, is sufficient representation and meaningful policy support at the national level.

“We are the change we’ve been waiting for,” Nakku told a gathering of youth in Kampala recently. “This is not just about running for office. It’s about restoring the youth voice in decision-making and creating opportunities where there have been roadblocks,” she added.

Her appeal cuts across regions, with strong backing from university students, youth groups, and young professionals who see in her a reflection of their own struggles and aspirations.

Having worked in youth-led initiatives for several years, Nakku brings hands-on experience to the national conversation, from organizing financial literacy workshops for young women in rural areas, to mentoring high school girls in science and leadership.

We’ve learnt that her campaign is driven by a call to action: a shift from rhetoric to results as she advocates for reforms in education to ensure that what is taught aligns with today’s job market, including stronger investment in technical and vocational training. At the heart of her promise is the drive to equip young Ugandans with practical skills, business support, and digital tools to compete in a fast-changing economy.

Nakku is equally vocal about economic empowerment, especially for young women. She believes that meaningful development can only be achieved when young people, particularly young women, have the tools and resources to support themselves and their communities.

She proposes innovative funding models to support youth start-ups, expand SACCOs, and unlock credit for youth-led enterprises.

In addition, what sets her apart is her clarity of vision and deep connection to the issues that matter. She does not speak about young people; she speaks with them and for them.

As a digital-native leader who has also worked at the grassroots, Nakku Fiona blends modern communication savvy with an authentic understanding of Uganda’s social dynamics. Her confidence, accessibility, and well-researched proposals have earned her respect even beyond the youth space.

With the campaign trail heating up, Nakku continues to gain traction as the candidate to watch. Her presence on social media has been both strategic and inspiring, using the platforms not just to promote herself, but to highlight the challenges and achievements of youth across the country.

“We rise by lifting others,” she often says, reinforcing her commitment to inclusive progress. “This journey isn’t about one person winning a seat — it’s about all of us winning space, voice, and power.”

As the elections draw near, Nakku is calling on Uganda’s youth to not only believe in change, but to be the change. Her vision for a more empowered, educated, and economically vibrant youth population is clear and many believe she has what it takes to deliver.

Her name is fast becoming synonymous with hope, action, and progress. And if her campaign momentum is anything to go by, Uganda’s young people may soon have a powerful new voice in Parliament — one they can truly call their own.
