The display of the National Voters Register for the 2025/2026 General Elections has started in Arua city, with low turnout registered on the first day of the exercise in most polling stations visited by Radio Pacis.
The display of the National Voter’s Register was initially set to run from April 17 to May 8, 2025, but was rescheduled to start on Friday, April 25, and will run up to May 15, 2025.
According to Juma Shesha Adam, the regional election officer for West Nile, during an interview with Radio Pacis, the exercise will also include the display of the Voters Registers for Special Interest Groups, that is Youths, Persons with Disabilities, and Older Persons.
“We have two display exercise going at the same time at the polling station is the national voters register used during the presidential, parliamentary and local council elections is a different register from the special interest group register where we have deployed a different group of people who will be seating at the various village centers,” he said.
Justine Bua the display officer at Arua public primary school cell polling station A to K in Arua central division, clarified that, the display of the National Voters Register will allow citizens to verify their registration details, confirm their polling stations, and raise any concerns such as missing names, errors, or objections to ineligible voters.
“I urge everyone to go and check their names at their respective polling stations because some people registered long time, they do not verify and others they have their names on the register with errors where we shall either swap it or remove it and the register will be taken back for correction after the exercise,” he said.
Sonia Angukoru the display officer at mission cell Ediofe cathedral polling station in Ayivu division, appealed to all stakeholders in the electoral process to participate in the display of the Voters Register and follow the guidelines that will be issued for the exercise being conducted in preparation for the 2025/2026 General Elections.
“Today is the first day of the exercise and it started with minimal challenges so I am encouraging everyone to visit their respective polling stations to check their correct details to avoid interruptions during general elections” she appealed.
