Three Pupils Injured as Truck Overturns, Crashes into School

Three pupils from Shalom Junior School in Bwera, Kasese District, were injured when a Sino truck lost control and rammed into their school.

The truck, registration number UBP 057N, was carrying marram when the driver, who has yet to be identified, failed to negotiate a corner due to a slippery road surface.

The vehicle overturned and crashed onto the school fence, where the children were standing.

The injured pupils have been identified as Brighton Mumbere, 6, Adrati Sixtusi, 3, and Edrick Mumbere, 3. They sustained severe injuries and were rushed to the hospital for treatment.

Rwenzori East Regional Police spokesperson Nelson Tumushime confirmed the incident, stating that police are actively pursuing the driver, who fled the scene.

The truck has since been towed to Bwera Division Police Station for further inspection.
