Women leaders in the Pan-African Parliament (PAP) have showered praise on Ugandan MP Carol Kamusiime for her outstanding leadership in steering their caucus on Gender-based Violence (GBV) and women’s empowerment.
As the 1st Vice President of the PAP Women’s Caucus, Kamusiime has been at the forefront of advocating for policy reforms that promote women’s rights, urging African governments to amend laws that ensure equal participation in decision-making and foster political, social, economic, and cultural inclusivity.
She made these remarks during the International Women’s Day Commemoration held in Midrand, South Africa, from March 7 to 11, 2025.

The event, organized by the Pan-African Parliament in collaboration with the African Union Development Agency–NEPAD, aimed to create a supportive environment where women can thrive and contribute meaningfully to Africa’s development agenda.
The celebration served as a platform for appreciation, dialogue, and reflection on the crucial role of women in the continent’s progress. Discussions revolved around key themes such as women’s empowerment, investment in their potential, and career development.
Participants emphasized the urgent need for increased investment in programs that enhance women’s access to resources and opportunities across all sectors.
Kamusiime’s passion and commitment to gender equality earned her widespread admiration from fellow parliamentarians, who hailed her as a pillar of women’s empowerment in Africa.
