Five Killed, 21 Injured in Kampala-Bombo Road Crash

Five people lost their lives, and 21 others suffered injuries in a multi-vehicle crash at Mayanja Valley along the Kampala-Bombo Road last night, police confirmed.

According to Traffic Police spokesperson Michael Kananura, the accident involved nine vehicles and a motorcycle. A Fuso Super Grande truck (UBK 769A), traveling from Kampala to Bombo, lost control while descending Mayanja Valley and rammed into several vehicles and a motorcycle.

“The crash killed five occupants from the affected vehicles, including the motorcycle rider, on the spot. Another 21 passengers in different Toyota Hiace taxis sustained injuries,” Kananura stated.

Emergency responders rushed the injured to Mulago Hospital for treatment. The deceased were taken to Mulago City Mortuary for post-mortem examinations. Authorities later towed the damaged vehicles to Kawempe Police Station as investigations continued.

Police urged motorists to prioritize road safety by maintaining their vehicles, obeying speed limits, and practicing defensive driving to prevent similar accidents.

Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the crash and will provide further updates as more details emerge.
