Uganda Police, along with sister security agencies, are investigating the robbery of Husmukhbhai Gadder, a 22-year-old Indian national and manager of SAGEMIN Trading Ltd based in Arua.
The businessman was reportedly attacked and robbed by two of his employees of Tanzanian origin on 15th February 2025.
Gadder, a resident of Arua Hospital Cell in Bazaar Ward, Central Division, reported the incident to police, identifying the suspected perpetrators as Naftali Boniface and Nadayo Godfrey, both Tanzanian nationals.
The suspects, who remain at large, were employed by SAGEMIN Trading Ltd, Arua Branch.
According to police preliminary findings, the robbery occurred on 15th February at around 6:30 PM. Armed with machetes, the suspects switched off the lights in the area, overpowered Gadder, tied his arms with rope, and covered his mouth with cell tape before making off with UGX 95 million in cash and gold worth USD 77,500.
The police statement reads: “Husmukhbhai Gadder, a 22-year-old businessman, Indian national, and manager of SAGEMIN Trading Ltd, residing in Arua Hospital Cell, Bazaar Ward, Central Division, Arua City, reported a case of aggravated robbery involving UGX 95 million, USD 25,000, and gold valued at USD 77,500.”
The statement further describes how the robbers tied the victim’s hands and legs, gagged him, and stole the valuables from the office before fleeing the scene.
In a surprising turn of events, Gadder managed to escape after a passerby found him struggling to hop to the gate with his hands and legs still bound. The victim had managed to free himself approximately 30 minutes after the robbers fled.
A case of aggravated robbery has been registered at Arua Central Police Station under SD REF: 65/15/02/2025.
