Kampala, Uganda — In the lead-up to the Kawempe North by-election scheduled for March 13, 2025, the National Resistance Movement (NRM) candidate, Hajjat Faridah Nambi, has initiated an extensive door-to-door campaign to connect with constituents on a personal level.
The by-election was necessitated by the untimely passing of Hon. Muhammad Ssegirinya on January 9, 2025. In response, the NRM, after thorough consultations and a consensus-building process, endorsed Nambi as its flag bearer. This decision was announced by the NRM Electoral Commission Chairperson, Dr. Tanga Odoi, following a comprehensive meeting with all party aspirants.
Demonstrating a commitment to grassroots engagement, Nambi has been visiting residents in their homes across various neighborhoods in Kawempe North. This approach aims to foster direct communication, allowing her to understand the unique challenges and aspirations of her potential constituents.
“Engaging with the people in their homes provides invaluable insights into their daily lives and concerns. It’s essential to build trust and ensure that their voices are heard,” Nambi emphasized during a recent visit.

Her door-to-door strategy has been met with positive responses from residents, who appreciate the personal touch and the opportunity to voice their concerns directly. Key issues raised include the need for improved infrastructure, better healthcare services, and enhanced educational opportunities.
Nambi’s campaign is further strengthened by the unity within the NRM party. Several former aspirants, including Onesmus Mutumba and Sam Katabazi, have rallied behind her candidacy, emphasizing the importance of solidarity to secure victory in the upcoming by-election.
As the campaign progresses, Nambi plans to continue her grassroots outreach, ensuring that she visits as many households as possible before the election. She believes that this personalized approach is crucial for effective representation and addressing the specific needs of the Kawempe North community.

The Kawempe North by-election has attracted attention from various political parties, each vying to fill the vacant seat. However, Nambi’s focus remains on her constituents, as she endeavors to build a strong rapport and demonstrate her dedication to serving the community.
The Electoral Commission has outlined the campaign period to run from February 28 to March 11, 2025, with nominations scheduled for February 26 and 27. As the election date approaches, Nambi’s door-to-door campaign continues to be a central component of her strategy to win the trust and support of Kawempe North residents.
