Police Hunt for Key Suspect in Kamwokya Pistol Theft

Kampala, Uganda The Kampala Metropolitan Police have launched a manhunt for Mwase Birali, a 42-year-old man accused of stealing a pistol and other valuables from the City Oil Petrol Station in Kamwokya.

The incident, which was reported to the Kira Road Police Division, has prompted detectives to intensify investigations as they track down the suspect.

Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson SSP Patrick Onyango confirmed that Birali is believed to be hiding in the Kamwokya area. Authorities have urged members of the public to provide any useful information that could lead to his arrest.

“We are actively following leads on this case, and we request anyone who has seen Birali or knows his whereabouts to report to the nearest police station. All information provided will be treated with confidentiality,” Onyango stated.

The police have also set up a confidential hotline—0705358733—for the public to share any details regarding the suspect’s location.

Growing Concerns Over Firearm Thefts

The theft of a firearm from a public location has raised security concerns, as stolen weapons often end up in the hands of criminal elements. Authorities are working swiftly to recover the pistol and prevent its potential use in unlawful activities.

Residents are advised to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the police as investigations continue.
