Kampala, Uganda – President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni was honored at the 2024 Victoria Gospel Academy (VIGA) Music Awards for his unwavering support towards the growth and development of the gospel music industry in Uganda.
The glamorous ceremony took place at Serena Hotel, drawing gospel artists, stakeholders, and dignitaries in a celebration of faith-based music excellence.
The award was received on behalf of President Museveni by the Public Relations Officer of the Office of the National Chairman, Mr. Moses Kintu, who expressed the President’s deep gratitude for the recognition.
He reiterated H.E. Museveni’s commitment to promoting Uganda’s creative arts industry, particularly gospel music, which continues to inspire and transform communities across the country.
Kintu further conveyed the President’s acknowledgment of gospel music as a powerful tool for unity, hope, and moral upliftment in society. He highlighted the government’s ongoing support for the creative industry and its role in empowering artists to showcase their talent on national and international platforms.
“The President appreciates the vital role gospel music plays in shaping a better society. His government remains committed to ensuring the arts and culture industry thrives by creating avenues for artists to develop and share their God-given talents,” said Mr. Kintu.
The VIGA Music Awards, now in its 11th edition, serve as Uganda’s premier platform for recognizing outstanding contributions to gospel music. This year’s event featured performances from some of the country’s most talented gospel artists, as well as speeches underscoring the importance of music in promoting faith and societal values.
President Museveni’s recognition was widely applauded, with stakeholders noting his continued efforts to support initiatives aimed at uplifting youth and promoting culture.
The award reflects the strong relationship between leadership and the gospel fraternity in advancing positive transformation through music.
