Man with Toy Gun Arrested for Impersonating Police to Free Detained Friend

Police at Kitintale Station have arrested a man named Mugume Langton, a 23-year-old resident of Namugongo, on charges of impersonating a police officer in an attempt to secure the release of a detained friend.

Mugume was apprehended on October 23, 2024, after he allegedly identified himself as an Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) affiliated with the Crime Intelligence Directorate.

He was also found in possession of a toy pistol, further raising suspicion.

According to a police statement, Mugume had visited the station to enquire about a suspect detained for a motorcycle theft case.

His claims raised concerns among officers, leading to additional questioning and his subsequent arrest.
