Alur Kingdom Appoints New Communications Director, Strengthens Leadership Team

The Alur Kingdom’s monarch, His Royal Highness Ubimu Phillip Olarker Rauni III, has announced the appointment of esteemed journalist David Rupiny as the Kingdom’s new Director of Communication and official Spokesperson.

The announcement, made through a statement on October 24 by the Kingdom’s Minister of General Duties, Emilio Odongo, highlights a strategic expansion in the Kingdom’s leadership roles, particularly in communication and legal affairs.

David Rupiny, who currently serves as Communication Manager at the Uganda Investment Authority, brings an extensive media background to his new role.

He has previously held positions at Radio Paidha FM and Open Radio Rainbow, as well as at the Uganda Radio Network (URN). His appointment, along with that of Counsel Richard Adubango Olama as Attorney General, signals a shift towards professionalising the Kingdom’s governance and communication structures.

Reflecting on his appointment, Rupiny expressed gratitude and a commitment to establishing a robust communication system within the Kingdom.
“I am humbled and honoured that the King has appointed me Director of Communications and Spokesperson of Alur Kingdom. The responsibilities are significant, but we can together set up a comprehensive communication strategy within the first 100 days,” he stated.

The new appointments come on the heels of a series of events within the Kingdom, including recently concluded sports tournaments supported by MTN. These events, which featured bicycle races and football, aim to foster community spirit and engagement.

As the Kingdom prepares for its annual rotational anniversary celebration of King Rauni III’s rule, these appointments are expected to boost advocacy and representation both domestically and internationally.

Last year, King Rauni III restructured the Kingdom’s leadership, appointing cabinet members and royal envoys to champion the Alur Kingdom’s interests.

With a 10-year tenure, the newly appointed team, which includes Prime Minister Prince Lawrence Opar Angala and other ministers, has a mandate to drive progress in key areas such as land conservation, environmental protection, education, and commercial agriculture.

David Sabbiti, a respected member of the Kingdom, shared his enthusiasm for the new appointees, expressing confidence that Rupiny and Olama would work diligently to meet the expectations of the King and his subjects.
