It was pomp and glamour at the Office of the National Chairman (ONC) in Kyambogo as Hajjat Hadijah Namyalo, the manager of the ONC, was treated to a surprise celebration in honor of her dedication and tireless service to President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni’s Bazzukulu.
The event, organized by ONC coordinators, the media team, and staff, brought together city tycoons, MPs, University student leaders, renowned religious figures, seasoned politicians, and Namyalo’s close friends.
Among the high-profile guests in attendance were members of the NRM Central Executive Committee (CEC), including Hon. Lydia Wanyoto of the Women’s League and Katto Gabriel, representing Persons with Disabilities (PWDs).
Other notable figures included former Minister and Bulambuli Woman MP Irene Muloni, Mawogola North MP Hon. Shartsi Musherure Kutesa, Rtd Maj. Awich Pollar, Director of External Mobilization in the NRM, Kampala Central Division Mayor Salim Uhuru, as well as several religious leaders, security chiefs, and other politicians.
Completely unaware of the planned celebration, Namyalo arrived at the office around midday, greeted by an enthusiastic group of bazzukulu eagerly awaiting her arrival.
As soon as she stepped out of her sleek car, she was warmly welcomed and escorted to the venue, where religious leaders kicked off prayers, thanking God for her life and service.
Hon. Wanyoto lauded Hajjat Namyalo for her relentless efforts in reconnecting the Bazzukulu with President Museveni, praising her for bridging the gap between the common people and the President.
She encouraged Namyalo to remain strong in the face of internal party struggles, noting that infighting within the NRM has long been fueled by some lazy individuals.
Wanyoto also urged the President to continue supporting women’s emancipation and the important work of the ONC.
Gabriel Kato echoed Wanyoto’s sentiments, expressing his gratitude to the ONC staff for honoring Namyalo while she is still alive.
He commended President Museveni for identifying a hard-working woman in Namyalo, whose commitment has been evident in her work.
Kampala Central Mayor Salim Uhuru also praised Namyalo for her strong connection with the people, especially those in the grassroots and downtown ghettos of Kampala.
He acknowledged her efforts in spreading the NRM gospel to these areas and thanked her for standing firm during challenging times.
“We appreciate your resilience and your role in informing the nation that President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni is on the ballot for 2026,” Uhuru added.
In their remarks, the bazzukulu expressed their deep appreciation for Namyalo’s selfless leadership and unwavering support.
“Hajjat, we know surprises are not your style, but we wanted to find a way to thank you for being more than just a boss — for being a sister and mother to us,” said Chris Buyela, the Bugisu subregion coordinator.
The media team, represented by their leader Hakim Kyeswa, and a message read by Olive Nabimanya, praised Namyalo for allowing them to be part of President Museveni’s journey.
They promised to continue defending her against critics and spreading the truth about her good work.
“You’ve been a supportive leader, working alongside the younger generation. We are committed to countering the negativity and ensuring your efforts are recognized,” Nabimanya said.
In her response, a visibly touched Namyalo thanked her staff for acknowledging her contributions.
She jokingly questioned the use of funds for such a grand event while she was busy lobbying for money to run office activities but expressed her gratitude, knowing it was done out of love.
“I’m glad this was your initiative, using your own money to appreciate me. No office funds were spent, which makes me happy,” she remarked.
Reflecting on her time at the ONC, Namyalo acknowledged the challenges she has faced, while praising President Museveni for standing by her despite numerous attempts to tarnish her reputation.
“I’ve told Museveni many times that he has more than two ears because he never falls for baseless accusations,” she said, applauding the President for his loyalty.
As she closed, Namyalo reaffirmed her commitment to leading the Tova Ku Main campaign and urged her team to remain vigilant ahead of the 2026 elections.
“We knew the campaign wouldn’t sit well with everyone, especially the enemies of progress. But I’m confident Museveni will win in 2026. All I ask is that we safeguard his votes to prevent the opposition from stealing them, like in 2021,” she declared, rallying her supporters for the next electoral battle.
