A tragic road accident on Rubaga Road, near Luqman Petrol Station in Kampala, has resulted in the deaths of two individuals and injuries to eight others.

The incident occurred around 6:30 AM when a speeding Toyota Hiace (registration number UAU 194T) lost control while descending a slope after failing to brake.

The vehicle veered off course and crashed into a building, leading to the immediate fatalities of both the driver and a passenger.

The injured occupants were promptly transported to Mengo Hospital and Mulago Referral Hospital for treatment, while the deceased were taken to Mulago City Mortuary for post-mortem examinations.

Authorities have towed the wrecked vehicle to Old Kampala Police Station for further inspection as investigations into the accident begin.

Traffic police spokesperson Michael Kananura urged drivers to adhere to speed limits, especially in urban areas, and to maintain their vehicles properly to prevent such incidents.
