Kampala: It was pomp and glamour as ONC media coordinator Mr. Kamuntu Frank bagged a 2nd class upper bachelor’s degree from Victoria University at a multimillion, swanky and sumptuous graduation ceremony held at the world-class Speke Resort Convention Centre Munyonyo.

It’s worth noting that this Speke Resort Convention Centre Munyonyo hosted the 2024 Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) and G77 Summits for the year 2024.

The Chancellor conferred a bachelor’s degree in Journalism and Media Studies to Kamuntu who was flanked by his two lovely parents and their daughter. He couldn’t hold the joy of hitting this academic milestone, reflecting on the sleepless nights and all the stress that comes with studying while at the same time working.

”This is a moment everyone wishes to see, full of joy, exultation, euphoria and rhapsody. But before I say anything, I want to dedicate this degree to my big-hearted elder brother, mentor and celebrated educationist, Professor Lawrence Muganga. I’m able to stand here today in this colourful attire, call it gown simply because of him. He is not my academic guardian but almost a full parent to me. He got me from zero and backed me up for this prestigious degree. I can’t find enough words to thank him, but only God knows, papa Muganga may God bless you for me,” an emotional Frank said, praising Muganga the Vice-Chancellor of Victoria University.

”Courtesy of Prof Muganga’s forward-thinking administration, I have been doing everything online, you don’t have to lose your job because of studies, I would find my lectures online, and do my exams online. That’s how smooth the journey has been. I therefore want to use this opportunity to apprise all the Gen Zs out there that this is the ‘University of You’, this is a place to be for those thinking about the new world of technology, in fact, this graduation’s theme is ‘Preparing Students for The Age of AI,” remember in the next few years, only those able to deal with the the magic of AI will be able to succeed, save your future today by rushing to get enrolled at Victoria University, don’t say I didn’t alert you!” added Kamuntu.

Asked what next after this graduation, Kamuntu proudly said; ”well, one of my lecturers and a friend indeed Mr Kakuru Isaac once told me ‘Frank Never Settle For Less’, and you have heard here in speeches the guest of honor Deputy Speaker Rt Hon Thomas Tayebwa has just said one degree is not enough, so soon I will be going back to Victoria University and I enrol for a Masters Degree, remember, African icon Nelson Mandela said; ”Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.”
