The Office of the National Chairman (ONC) team, led by Public Relations Officer Moses Kintu, held a strategic meeting with Ghetto Youths in Mbale City on Sunday as part of ongoing preparations for the highly anticipated Bugisu Youth Symposium, scheduled for September 12, 2024, at Mbale Senior Secondary School Grounds.
Organized by ONC, the event is themed “Mindset Change for Youths on Wealth Creation” and aims to bring together young people from the Bugisu subregion to learn about wealth creation, discipline, and unity.
The guest of honor for the symposium will be Uganda’s President, H.E. Yoweri Museveni, who is expected to deliver a key lecture focusing on economic empowerment, entrepreneurship, and sustainable development.
During the meeting at Courts View Hotel, Kintu reaffirmed the ONC’s and the NRM government’s commitment to supporting youth empowerment in the Bugisu subregion.
He emphasized the importance of unity, patriotism, and discipline as vital tools for the youth to champion their own development.
Kintu noted that patriotism, like love for one’s family, is inherent and must drive their efforts toward wealth creation and community progress.
Major Kuteesa Emma, who was also part of the ONC delegation, stressed the need for youth involvement in leadership and development roles.
He encouraged the young attendees to engage directly with President Yoweri Museveni during the symposium to present their issues, including proposals for their SACCOs, aimed at addressing challenges they face in their day-to-day lives.
Hon. Rita Namuwenge, the National Coordinator for Emyooga, also highlighted the need for collective efforts in empowering the youth.
She assured the Ghetto Youths of the government’s continued support, reminding them that President Museveni will preside over the event as Chief Guest and deliver a keynote speech aimed at inspiring youth transformation.
Counsel JB Uhuru, legal head at ONC, called the symposium a “golden opportunity” for Bugisu’s youth, urging them to mobilize and attend in large numbers.
He emphasized that the event would provide a platform for engaging directly with government leadership and building pathways to economic empowerment.
The ONC’s Regional Coordinator for Bugisu, Chris Buyela, thanked the Ghetto Youths for their support and promised to work closely with them to ensure the success of the symposium.
He noted that the event is not only about speeches but also about building unity and finding practical solutions for the region’s development.
The Bugisu Youth Symposium is expected to draw thousands of participants and will focus on wealth creation, entrepreneurship, and sustainable development, providing the youth with valuable insights from national leaders.
