The Foreign Office has issued a stark red alert for UK globetrotters, identifying 31 countries on its ‘No Travel’ list. With almost 200 nations and territories to choose from worldwide, British tourists are strongly urged to steer clear of certain places.

The reasons cited for these dire travel advisories range from concerns over safety and security risks to ongoing wars and strife. The spectre of terrorism looms in various regions, while the dangers posed by extreme natural events including raging infernos, devastating twisters, and potential tsunamis add to the list of threats.

Britons planning trips abroad are warned by the Foreign Office: “Get advice and warnings about travel abroad, including entry requirements, safety and security, health risks and legal differences.”

It’s worth noting that disregarding this guidance could instantly nullify standard travel insurance coverage.

Amidst various advisories, the Foreign Office particularly discourages all but essential journeys to swathes of Israel and the occupied Palestinian territories, as well as several other countries, reports Birmingham Live.

Here’s a rundown of the nations where travel is advised against:

– Belarus – do not travel.

– Russia – do not travel.

– Ukraine – do not travel.

In the Middle East:

– Iraq – do not travel and all but essential travel warning.

– Iran – do not travel.

– Israel – do not travel and all but essential travel warning.

Don’t miss

– Lebanon – do not travel.

– Occupied Palestinian territories – do not travel.

– Syria – do not travel.

– Yemen – do not travel.

In Africa:

The UK government has issued a ‘do not travel’ and ‘all but essential travel’ warning for Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Chad, Central African Republic, Ethiopia, Libya, Mali, Mauritania, Niger, Nigeria, Somalia, South Sudan, Sudan, Western Sahara, Haiti, Venezuela, Afghanistan, Myanmar, North Korea, and Pakistan. For some of these countries, the warning applies to significant parts of the country.

In the case of North Korea, the borders have not reopened since Covid.
