Police in Hoima District are searching for suspects involved in the fatal stabbing of Cleophas Mwesige, a 30-year-old manager at Colleague Guesthouse.
Mwesige, a resident of Nyamasoga village in Kigaga parish, Kabaale sub-county, was found dead on Thursday night at Nyamasoga Trading Centre.
On the night of the incident, after serving his guests, Mwesige retired to a guestroom assigned to him within the guesthouse. When he did not emerge the following morning, his colleagues grew concerned.
They discovered that the room door had been locked from the outside and Mwesige’s phone was turned off.
Local resident James Kisembo reported the situation to the community leaders, who then contacted the police. Authorities, along with residents, forced entry into the room and found Mwesige’s lifeless body.
Albertine Region Police Spokesperson Julius Hakiza confirmed that Mwesige had sustained severe stab wounds to his chest and left hand, leading to his death from excessive bleeding.
An autopsy confirmed the cause of death as severe blood loss. The police have launched an investigation into the incident to apprehend those responsible.
