Eddy Kenzo has rubbished the idea of changing his religion for his wife-to-be, Phiona Nyamutoro, responding with, “Why would I change?” when questioned about it.
“I don’t see the world as others do. Everyone has their perspective. It’s about faith, not religion… It’s about how you appreciate and believe in your God.”
According to the “Balipira Boda” hitmaker, those stirring up the conversation about religion are attempting to create division.
“They are using the situation between Kenzo and Phiona to push their ill-intentions. But anyone knowledgeable knows we all worship one God.”
Eddy Kenzo also confirmed that Nyamutoro’s family has not asked him to convert from Islam.
“That’s not true,” he said when questioned about reports that the wife’s family had asked him to change his religion. “That is propaganda… Mere earthly talk… Why would they want me to change religion? They’ve never even mentioned it.”
According to the fashionista, Kenzo, born Edirisa Musuuza, is considering changing his religion as a prerequisite for his marriage to the Minister of State for Minerals, Phiona Nyamutoro.
Her post read in part: “Eddy Kenzo will have to convert to Christianity as one of the demands from Nyamutoro’s parents to marry their daughter.” However, it should be noted that Minister Nyamutoro’s parents have publicly expressed openness and support for their daughter’s marriage to a man who may not fit the traditional mould—a musician.
In an interview, Nyamutoro’s father, Patrick Aperu, stated that he had no say in his daughter’s choice of husband.
