The Territorial Police in Nakasongola district are investigating a case of aggravated defilement that allegedly took place between 2023 and July 2024 at Ekitangala Primary School in Kakooge Subcounty.

The suspect, identified as Mayanja Peter, a shambaboy at the school, is accused of sexually abusing pupils aged seven to thirteen years.

According to preliminary investigations, Mayanja Peter, who resided on the school premises, is suspected of defiling eight pupils. The alleged abuse occurred while the suspect was living with the victims at his home within the school compound.

On July 24, 2024, a meeting was convened at the school to address the allegations. During the meeting, the victims disclosed the suspect’s actions to the school administration. Subsequently, the matter was reported to Kakooge Police Station.

The police responded promptly, opening a case of aggravated defilement, visiting and documenting the scene, and recording statements from relevant witnesses and victims.

All victims were examined, and the suspect was arrested and detained at CPS Nakasongola district for further investigation.

ASP Sam Twiineamazina, the spokesperson for the Savannah region, confirmed the arrest of the suspect.
