The District Resident Commissioner (RDC) for Pakwach, Paul Eseru, has announced the arrest of two district officials on allegations of misappropriating Uganda Shillings 16 million.

The officials in question are Rachael Mary Anena, the Chief Administrative Officer of Pakwach Sub-county, and Frank Udoma, the accountant for the same sub-county.

Eseru confirmed that the arrests took place on the morning of July 23, 2024, and both officials are set to appear before the Anti-Corruption Court in Kampala on July 24, 2024, facing charges of abuse of office, mismanagement of public funds, and conspiracy to defraud.

“They were detained early this morning following the sanctioning of their files by the Director of Public Prosecutions. They will be presented tomorrow at the Anti-Corruption Court in Kololo to face charges of abuse of office, mismanagement of public funds, and conspiracy to defraud,” Eseru stated.

These arrests occur during a period of intense national focus on corruption, with numerous recent cases involving government officials, including some members of Parliament, being brought to light.
