General Aronda Nyakairima, who passed away in 2015, is remembered for his notable contributions to the professionalization of the UPDF. Serving as CDF from 2003 to 2013, Gen. Aronda implemented various reforms that significantly improved the capabilities and professionalism of the UPDF. At the time of his death, he was serving as the Minister of Internal Affairs.
The memorial lecture aims to honor Gen. Aronda’s legacy and continue discussions on military professionalism and reform. It provides a platform for military leaders, policymakers, and defense experts to exchange ideas and strategies that can further enhance the effectiveness of the UPDF and other defense forces.
