Uganda Airlines, the country’s national carrier, has announced plans to launch three new routes to the capitals of Zambia, Zimbabwe, and Nigeria starting in September 2024.
During the launch event on Wednesday, July 17 in Kampala, Uganda Airlines CEO Jenifer Bamuturaki stated that the new flights would enhance Uganda’s connectivity within Africa.
“The launch of these new routes marks a significant milestone in our efforts to boost intra-African travel. Establishing an air bridge to West and Southern Africa will provide convenience to travellers across the continent, offering direct flights and seamless connections. This will create numerous opportunities in business, trade, tourism, and socio-cultural exchanges,” Bamuturaki said.
Uganda Airlines currently operates flights to several destinations, including Kenya, Tanzania, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Somalia, South Sudan, South Africa, the United Arab Emirates, India, Burundi, and Lagos, Nigeria.
The addition of these new routes aims to further strengthen the airline’s network and support Uganda’s role in fostering regional integration and cooperation.
