Entebbe, Uganda – President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni’s Bazzukulu in Entebbe and Greater Wakiso Region have endorsed him for another term in the coming 2026 elections.

This endorsement came on Thursday, June 27, during a significant empowerment event aimed at alleviating poverty among the locals. Hajjat Hadijah Namyalo Uzeiye, Museveni’s Senior Presidential Advisor and Political Head at the Office of the National Chairman (ONC), led the initiative at Entebbe Muslim Grounds.

Addressing thousands of youths and women, Hajjat Namyalo expressed gratitude to the Bazzukulu for their unwavering support for President Museveni and First Lady Janet Kataha Museveni.

She conveyed the President’s and First Lady’s commitment to providing immediate assistance to those in need as they await larger government programs like the Parish Development Model (PDM), Emyooga, and Youth Livelihood Funds.

“As you wait for the government programmes set up for poverty alleviation, I asked the President and well-wishers to join me in the immediate fight against poverty by giving out tools that can enable anyone from the low-income earners to get started with something they’re skilled into,” Namyalo said during the event.

Over 100 youth and women groups received various items to help them kickstart small businesses. These included fishing nets, life jackets, gumboots for fishermen and fish traders, hair dryers, hair cutting machines, popcorn and chips frying machines, poultry chicks and feeds, among others.

Hajjat Namyalo urged the beneficiaries to utilize these tools effectively and warned against selling them off, emphasizing that ONC coordinators and local leaders would follow up to ensure proper use.

Additionally, two Boda Boda youth groups from Entebbe and Wakiso were given a boost with new Honda motorcycles, donated by Ms. Mariam Namusoke of Honda by Markh Investments, to improve their livelihoods through rotational ownership and rides.

The empowerment drive coincided with the celebration of Mama Janet Museveni’s birthday on June 24. Namyalo thanked the Bazzukulu for their large turnout and support, attributing the event’s success to the leadership of both President Museveni and Mama Janet Museveni.

“Thank you Mama Janet Museveni for honouring this good day in Wakiso District celebrating your birthday, and Jajja Yoweri Kaguta Museveni Tibuhaburwa for the self-empowerment you have availed to the people of Wakiso,” said Namyalo. She acknowledged some logistical hiccups but assured that 90% of registered groups received their items to start their journey out of poverty.

One of the beneficiaries, expressing excitement, said, “This sewing machine will allow me to start my own tailoring business and provide for my family.”

The ONC Manager further announced plans to extend the self-empowerment drive across Wakiso district, including Busiro, Kasangati, Nansana, and Kira municipalities.

She assured those who had not yet benefited to remain patient as the initiative would soon reach their areas.
“This initiative is a testament to our dedication to improving the lives of Ugandans. By providing these tools, we are enabling our people to become self-sufficient and contribute to the nation’s development,” Namyalo added.

The Bazzukulu empowerment programme is part of a broader strategy by the ONC, under the guidance of President Museveni through Hajjat Namyalo, to enhance economic independence and resilience among Ugandans.

As the event concluded, Namyalo reiterated the ongoing support from the NRM leadership and urged the community to continue supporting President Museveni in his upcoming 2026 campaign.
