Lamwo, Uganda – The Special Presidential Assistant (SPA) and Personal Assistant (PA) to the Office of the National Chairman, Hajjat Hadijah Namyalo Uzeiye, has made a significant contribution to the Acholi region by donating hundreds of empowerment tools to the youth and women of Lamwo district.
The donation event, held on Thursday, June 20, 2023, at Padibe Boys Primary School playground in Padibe Town Council, attracted thousands of attendees.
The empowerment tools distributed included bricklaying machines, hoes, oxen ploughs, sprayers, carpentry tools, charcoal stoves, salon dryers, shaving machines, welding machines, tailoring machines, hand dryers, frying pans, and mechanic toolboxes, among others.
Dr. Okulu Anthony, Member of Parliament for Padibe Constituency, expressed gratitude towards the Office of the National Chairman for their efforts in empowering the local youth and women.
He highlighted the poor state of roads in Lamwo and called on the government to prioritize infrastructural development in the region.
“Lamwo district will remain yellow no matter what. We commend the ONC boss for championing empowerment for the youth and women,” he stated.
Hon. Achora Nancy Odonga, the Woman Member of Parliament for Lamwo district, also expressed her appreciation for the empowerment initiatives.
“I thank Hajjat Namyalo for putting Lamwo at heart and coming to empower the youth and women,” she said. Achora urged the beneficiaries to utilize the tools effectively to combat poverty and reiterated the district’s strong support for President Museveni’s 2026 election bid.
Mr. Oyet Sisto Oven, the LC 5 Chairperson of Lamwo District, while appreciating the support for the youth, voiced concerns about potential divisions within the NRM party due to ONC’s empowerment efforts.
Addressing these concerns, Hajjat Namyalo emphasized that the initiative aimed to empower the poor and was not politically motivated. “We have not come here for politics but to empower the poor people like you. ONC is not here to fight any MP or leader,” she affirmed.
During her address, Namyalo also mentioned reports from youths in Gulu City about a government official misusing a government car for personal benefits.
She promised to investigate the matter further and ensure accountability. Additionally, district LC 3 Councilors informed Namyalo about their unpaid salaries for three years. She pledged to follow up on this issue and prepare a report for the President.
Namyalo concluded by urging the beneficiaries to use the empowerment tools wisely to create jobs and overcome poverty.
The event underscored the ongoing efforts to support and uplift the communities in the Acholi region while reinforcing the district’s endorsement of President Museveni’s 2026 bid.
