RUBANDA, UGANDA – Uganda Police and sister security agencies are investigating a gruesome triple murder that has left the community of Nshanjare Town Council in shock.
The incident has claimed the lives of three individuals, identified as Agaba Silver, 65, Ainembabazi Bright, 27, and Rwamahe Edward, alias Militant, 32.
According to ASP Elly Maate, Police spokesperson for the Kigezi Region, Agaba Silver, a resident of Butabonana cell, Mengo ward, went missing on the night of June 16, 2024. Silver had left his home around 10:00 pm to visit Mengo trading center but failed to return. His wife, Tindibakira Lydia, reported his disappearance, prompting a search party that included their son, Atuheire Marvin.
Tragically, Silver’s body was discovered in a pool of blood near Mengo trading center, with multiple head injuries. A red jumper, suspected to belong to Ainembabazi Bright, was found at the scene.
Before the police could respond, an enraged mob took matters into their own hands and lynched the two suspects, Ainembabazi Bright and Rwamahe Edward. The police have condemned the mob justice, urging the community to allow law enforcement agencies to handle criminal matters.
“The act of mob justice is strongly condemned,” said ASP Maate. “We urge the public to desist from taking the law into their own hands and to trust the police to carry out thorough investigations and bring the perpetrators to justice.”
The police have vowed to arrest and charge anyone found to have participated in the lynching. The case has sent ripples of fear and outrage through the community, and authorities are diligently working to uncover the motives behind the killings.
