The Kamuli Territorial Police have apprehended and brought charges against Jjingo Muhammad, a 43-year-old farmer and businessman from Mbulamuti Town Council in Kamuli district.

He stands accused of Aggravated Defilement of a 13-year-old primary pupil.

According to reports, the victim’s mother had entrusted her daughter with a phone for communication while she was away on a business trip to Kampala.

Upon her return on May 31, 2024, the mother discovered that her daughter had Ugx 10,000, which she had not left with her. Upon questioning, the young girl disclosed that the money was given to her by the suspect, who had been sexually abusing her at his residence.

She also revealed that he had forced her to take emergency contraceptive pills. The matter was promptly reported to the authorities, leading to the arrest of the suspect who is currently being held at Kamuli Central Police Station for further investigation.

The crime scene has been examined, and statements have been taken from witnesses to gather more evidence.

Jjingo Muhammad appeared before the Kamuli Magistrate’s Court on June 7, 2024, where he was remanded in custody as the investigation progressed.
