Lyca Mobile announced changes in the pricing of voice, SMS, and data bundles, a move that worried customers who saw it as a more affordable option.

The company, however, introduced changes that might benefit those who consume a lot of data, as it will be giving bonuses to those who reload before the current bundle expires.

“Dear valued customers, Lyca Mobile is pleased to launch its new product portfolio with a host of affordable and competitive products comprising Voice Bundles, Data Bundles, Combo Bundles, SMS Bundles,” reads a statement issued on 5 June.

“These bundles will be available with Daily, Weekly, and Monthly validity options to all existing and new customers of Lyca Mobile in Uganda. Our bundles are more exciting now and come with bonuses on repeat recharges.”

According to the statement, the new changes went live on the day the statement was issued.

The bundles can be renewed by dialling *100# and you can buy using either MTN Mobile Money or Airtel Money.

Commenting on the changes, an X user, who goes by @marvinjohnz, said: “I was surprised today at the payway kiosk, almost Sl@pp€d the lady. It’s true, Lycamobile is changing Data prices 😭😭😭”

A commenter on the Lyca Mobile post said: “Lyca Mobile decided to leave the struggle but it ain’t delivering the services neither can they be reached through their customer service line.”
