Tushar Mashru Walks Away with Stanbic’s Monthly Mug of May

Tushar Mashru carded 66 nett countback and was crowned the overall winner of the May Stanbic Uganda Monthly Mug, leaving over 100 rivalsawed.

Held at the Uganda Golf Course (UGC), Kitante on Saturday, the monthly tournament is sponsored by Stanbic Bank Uganda, the anchor subsidiary of Stanbic Uganda Holdings Limited.

Speaking shortly before awarding mugs to the winners, Arthur Kiwanuka, the Head of Affluent Banking at Stanbic Bank said, “The numbers today were very encouraging and we hope this spirit continues. As Stanbic, we shall continue sponsoring the game as long as people continue to play.”

He reiterated the need to comprehensively support the development of sports in the country.

“As Stanbic, we are driven by our slogan; Uganda is our home, we drive her growth. We are committed to supporting the development of sports in the country. We call upon other stakeholders to join us and ensure that we collectively support and boost the development of talent which we hope will also make the tournaments much more interesting,” Kiwanuka said.

Meanwhile, the competitors were treated to a raffle by FlyDubai which saw Emmanuel Lwanga declared the winner of a return business ticket to Dubai. Lwanga was also the runner-up of Group B with 67 nett countbacks, falling behind the group’s winner Alexander Matsiko.

Vincent Asiimwe topped Group A with 69 netts,  Jerry Owachi came second with 70 nett countback, while Paul Rumanzi was declared the guest winner.

For Ladies, Berna Musanabena emerged winner of Group A, Edria Kagombe was a winner of Group B, while Harriet Kitaka and Danielle Nyirandutiye were first runner-ups of Group A and B respectively.

While addressing the players, UGC’s captain Paul Charles Rukundo said, “The draw was full. Many members could not participate because we had closed the draw, and that shows how overwhelming the turnout was. Thank you all for turning up in big numbers.”
